Aspen Hall is a Greek Revival house that was built in 1840 by Dr James Shannon, President of Bacon College from 1839 until 1850. Shannon was also the minister of the First Christian Church in Harrodsburg when he purchased the land for this house from Dr Christopher C. Graham who was the owner of the old Greenville Springs, now the world famous Beaumont Inn property, of which it was a part. This house was also owned by the founder of the University of Kentucky, the Honorable John B. Bowman who sold the property when he moved to Lexington to become President of the university. The Colossal-style 3-bay pedimented portico presents a grand picture from Beaumont Ave. The house has original Greek-eared and bracketed trim, & doors, 14' ceilings, & large well scaled rooms. Renovated at the T-O-C, parquet oak floors, beveled glass sidelights and Victorian light fixtures were added. English bsmt is not counted in sq. ft. This bank owned property is being sold as-is and needs some TLC. $379,900
