Suddenly, it seems, summer is upon us.  The kids are out of school for the summer, the temperature is rising……the patio is waiting!  Summer evenings are meant for dining outside!  Luckily, Lexington has many beautiful patios for the occasion.

One of the newer patio additions to Lexington is out at Georgia’s Kitchen.  If you haven’t been out to Georgia’s (located at the old Flag Fork Farm), drop everything and go….right now!  The food is amazing and the atmosphere will make you want to stay all day!  The gardens have been completely revitalized and offer up a little maze of nooks and gazebos for dining and socializing.  The menu is brief, but delightful…..the chocolate soufflé is worth every second waiting!  For more details about dining and shopping, visit their website at http://www.georgiaskitchencafe.com/index.html

Stella’s Kentucky Deli on Jefferson Street offers a narrow little patio reminiscent of those found in New Orleans.  The food is local and always delicious.  Stella’s is one of my favorite spots for breakfast, but is fast becoming a regular addition to my lunch rounds.  Visit http://www.stellaskentuckydeli.com/ to see menus and hours.

For a quick lunch downtown, you can’t beat Shorty’s grocery.  The broccoli salad is the best I’ve had, their sandwiches are fresh and delicious, and the paninis are something even my kids will eat!  If you’ve never been before, be sure to stoop in.  The grocery is located in an old bank building and still has the original safe (now home to frozen foods).  For hours, menu, and coupons, check their website at http://shortysgrocery.com/

If upscale dining is more to your taste, there are patios out there for you too!  Rossi’s, located in Chinoe Centre, has a large patio suitable for seating larger parties.  Rossi’s also offers an extensive menu with options sure to please any palate!  For more information on Rossi’s, visit their website at http://www.rossis-restaurant.com/index.html.

Downtown, Bellini’s offers upscale dining right on the sidewalk.  Located on the downtown trolley route, Bellini’s is convenient to walkers and trolley riders alike.  Bellini’s offers a perfect little spot for watching the bustle of downtown while enjoying hearty Italian fare.  Menus and hours can be found at   http://www.bellinis.us/

Whether you’re looking for casual or upscale patio dining, Lexington has plenty to offer.  So, get out and enjoy this beautiful weather and a cocktail on the patio.  Summer is just made for reconnecting with friends and family, so keep the kids up late and enjoy your summer evening!
