With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many of you are already thinking about family, food and football. As for others, you’re preparing to brave the cold… and the crowd to score a good deal. Most major retailers open their doors at the crack of dawn, offering promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season. As if 4:00 am—after a turkey feast—isn’t early enough, rumors are buzzing that stores will now open on Thanksgiving Day.

However, for those of you looking for a different kind of Black Friday tradition, Lexington’s Official Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held in the newly redesigned Triangle Park. Bundle up and head downtown for Luminate Lexington, presented by Kentucky Utilities! From 2-7 enjoy the local food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, live musical performances, and the Unified Trust Company Ice Rink. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., join Santa Claus and Mayor Jim Gray as they hit the lights and illuminate Downtown Lexington!
